Yink Da Captain Interview

Maryland has finally been able to crown itself a leader for its people. We finally have an artist who has lyrical content and not just misogynistic lyrics. The Artist that we are talking bout is none other than Yink Da Captain who has brought a breath of fresh air to an oversaturated market. Fully Retarded the mixtape has been making noise all over the web. We are here to bring you closer to Maryland’s crowned king.

What is your name?  My performance name is Yink Da Captain.

How long have you been making music?  From as far back as I could remember I always was involved in some type of musical expression weather through song, dance or imagery.

How many songs /albums have you released to date?   I have released a lot of stuff old school style out of my trunk, Maryland, county boy blues and county city official just to name a few. But after linking up with Jason my manager at Day 1 production has really been keen on pushing me through other markets. We just released Fully Retarded the mixtape and are dropping the I AM A COUNTY BOY mixtape in the first quarter of next year.

Can you tell us about your latest release and the background and inspirations behind it?   Yes as I said previously Fully Retarded is the new mixtape the reason that we named it Fully Retarded was an inside joke. We are in new era in music where lyrics are not at the forefront of what makes a great song. So the Fully Retard is just insinuating that I dumbed down to make better music for my fans. It’s reintroducing myself with a new team and better promoters and different aspects of making music.

How have you ended up in the music industry?  Followed the love I been rapping since a teen. I was the undergrounds underground king, just kept on getting better through the years to develop into what we have today. I started off just playing with music and I kept on getting surprisingly good every year.

What did you think of the music industry in 2014?  Exciting, I really believe that I became like full hip hop this year, what I mean by that is that I am just taking on all aspects of hip hop from the music to the DJ and the graffiti. I just like the direction that hip hop is going and to see pioneers like Dr. Dre, Jay Z and Puff fruition into who they are is just really motivational.

Who do you think the most influential artist is in 2014?  Yink Da Captain

Who have you collaborated with so far in your career?   Well let me give a shot out to Hell Rell A.K.A Ruger Rell he gave me my first break as far as artist that’s on that let me hop on a track. Yea man I worked with some great Artist that where from the streets but down to earth just like Gorilla Zoe, I also did a track with Bosman from Baltimore. I just flew back in from hoping on a track with Pastor Troy called DMV soldiers and the most notable is off my Debut Mixtape Ft King Los called Over ya Head.

Dead or alive, who would be your dream collaboration?   That decision has to be split it is between Eminem and Jay-z respectfully.

What was your first album you bought?  That’s a great question the first album that I bought was Rakim the Seventh Letter double edition with Paid in full.

What’s your favorite song at the moment?   Yink Da Captain – Fully Retarded

How do you think you differ from other artists?  Some artist are 2-D some artist are 3-D I like to phantom myself as no dimensional, no song ever sounded the twice ever and I’m over 800 in.

What is your favourite saying?   It’s the captain Baby!!!!!!!

Tell us more about your upcoming project or this new project?    Yea make sure that you get Fully Retarded the mixtape it got artist on there that ya love like Pastor Troy, it also gut’s my homies from the bricks Pak and Kells. Thirteen tracks of just that ugly face ya know.

What’s in the pipeline for the future?   Yea man like I said we have I AM A County Boy coming soon it has King Los, Gorilla Zoe and Hell Rell on their production done by the bet producers from Maryland.

Thank you for your time and may you carry on making dope, fresh music.
