He puts his heart on his beats and takes you into his world with vivid and deep lyrics that are not too complex, but really hit home. He uses real world situations in life to express his stories. DUB is one of those rappers that draws you in and won’t let you go when you dive into his music.

What is your name?   My name is DUB or you can call me C-Dub. I just started going by DUB really this year.

Where are you from?   From Clarksville, TN

How long have you been making music?   I have been making music for a long time since like the 7th grade, so about 8 years now.

How many songs /albums have you released to date?   I have released an abundance of songs, but I have only released 1 official mixtape in July of 2013.

Can you tell us about your latest release and the background and inspirations behind it?   The latest song I released is called Knock Down featuring 2 of my boys from college, Sip and Young Deuce. It’s a song about not letting no one knock you down and shoot down your dreams. Its really an inspirational song if you just listen to the beat. Its about standing up to the bullies that society tries to put up against you.

How have you ended up in the music industry?   I ended up here through hard work and networking. I’m starting to see my hard work pay off through different avenues in life and I’m going to keep working hard cause that’s the kind of person I am.

What do you think of the music industry in 2014?    I think the industry is geared more towards harmonised verses and choruses. I think if you look at most of the new stuff out you see a lot of that especially with this trap phase in hip hop. I also think vine is influencing a lot now. If you can get you a 6 second clip on vine and you can get that going off you can see your popularity shoot up.

Who do you think the most influential artist?   My most influential artist for me personally is J. Cole. He inspires me through his story telling and I can relate to exactly what he is saying in most of, if not all of his songs.

Who have you collaborated with so far in your career?    I have collabs with a few people from my hometown S.A.M Gohard we call him SG, and my boy Spanky Fitz he done been through so many name changes haha, but those two are my partners we got a little group called SRC and we all got different styles that mesh so well. I also got this collab with Ryshon Jones coming out on the project. Hopefully I can get a couple more people on some stuff that I need to get in contact with.

Dead or alive, who would be your dream collaboration?   Tupac or J. Cole

What was the first album you bought?   T.I King

What’s your favourite song at the moment?   With all these songs out, most of them are catchy but I wouldn’t call any of them a favourite. I really be on that old music old T.I Pac Big Cole and Kanye. However, I mess with that Bobby Shmurda though.

Who is the most influential artist now, and 10 years ago?   My friend and I were having a debate about that the other day, and I have to say it is Kanye. People might not like what he says or how he says it, but he expresses his opinion and he has changed the game in many ways.

If you had to sell your music collection tomorrow, what album would you leave in your draw?   I would have to keep my J. Cole. I would have to keep The Warm Up even though it isn’t an album its basically the same thing haha. That mixtape got me through some hard times.

How do you think you differ from other artists?   I think I differ from artist from my style, the way I present myself, and my truthfulness. The person you get on a track is me in real life. Everything I say can be backed up by facts. I don’t want to lie to my fans and listeners cause I feel like I’m cheating them. I’ve had so many different stories to tell that have really happened and I want them to listen and hear them.

What is your favourite saying?    It is what it is

What other hobbies or interests do you have?   I play football and Nobody really knows this but I been kind of writing a book.

Do you have any tattoos or piercings?   No don’t have either one

Tell us more about your upcoming project or this new project?   The project is called Lost Dreams it isn’t that long it’s going to be about 10 tracks and its about my life the past 2 years. I been in so many messed up situations that some people don’t even know about. It’s kind of like a story from the beginning to the end. Its really like a story each song is a chapter and it starts out with a positive inspired kid that thinks he can take the world over, but as the real world hits him he starts going down the drain. The end is going to be wild to so be on the lookout.

What’s in the pipeline after this project?   I want to start doing shows again. Just the feeling when you’re on stage is like no other. I want to get where people know who I am I want a following and hopefully I can develop that in the next few years.

Thank you for your time and may you carry on making dope, fresh music.
